SLFCU's minimum balance requirement was reduced from $5 to $1 as of May 2, making membership even more accessible!
As a federally chartered credit union, SLFCU membership requires the possession of at least one par value share. The par value represents the member’s share of ownership in the Credit Union.
Historically, this share has held a value of $5. SLFCU reduced this amount to $1 in an effort to increase financial accessibility for individuals and families in our communities. SLFCU is committed to promoting financial empowerment and inclusion for all. By reducing the par share, we are making it easier than ever for anyone to become a member and benefit from our financial services.
Existing members may notice changes when accessing online banking or viewing their statements, as available funds will reflect the difference from their current balance.
