Fraud and Online Safety Tips

11/1/2024

SLFCU is committed to helping you keep your money and identity safe. Here are some ways you can keep scammers and hackers away from your online accounts.

SECURE YOUR ACCOUNTS SO THEY'RE HARD TO CRACK

Use strong passwords and don't re-use the same password between accounts. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on sensitive accounts like your email or financial accounts. 2FA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification. Learn how 2FA can help protect your accounts in SLFCU online and mobile banking.

KEEP EVERYTHING UP TO DATE

Ensure your security software, operating system, internet browsers, and apps are up to date to defend against the latest threats.

CHANGE YOUR WI-FI PASSWORD

Your wireless network is the gateway to all the Wi-Fi enabled devices in your home. Replace your wireless network’s default password with a strong one. We also recommend encrypting your network to prevent unauthorized access. Learn more here.

LOCK YOUR COMPUTER AND PHONE WHEN NOT IN USE

Set your devices to lock when you’re not using them. This can help prevent unauthorized access to your computer if you step away, or to your phone if you lose it.
