It's Easy to Qualify Your Company for Membership
A High-Value Employee Benefit at No Cost to You
Membership in Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union is one of the most valuable, cost-free employee benefits available. If your company has a professional or technology focus and is located in the Albuquerque, New Mexico or Livermore, California metropolitan areas, requesting SLFCU membership is a smart financial decision that your employees and their families will appreciate. Here's how to do it:
Please send us a letter on your company's letterhead. We have provided a Select Employee Group letter under "Documents" to your right for the correct format. Just fill in the blanks. Address the letter to the SLFCU Board of Directors. The letter must include a physical address, should be signed by an official representative of your company or local division, identified by title (i.e., President, CEO, Albuquerque Manager), and should include:
- The approximate number of employees at your facility
- How many miles your company or local division is located from an SLFCU branch and the address of the SLFCU location nearest to your office (click here for a list of branch locations).
- If your company or local division has more than 3000 employees you must also include a statement that you do not provide any other credit union for your employees, as well as any reasons why your company cannot start its own credit union.
In order to help provide better service to you and your employees, please provide the following information and include it with your letter:
- The type of business your company is in
- Number of years in operation
- The reason your company chose SLFCU as an employee benefit. (Examples: branch proximity; employees who are comfortable with using our free computer home banking program; technology mission of company; other businesses in the CU's field of membership.)
Please include the name of the person we should contact if your company is approved, including name, title, email address, and phone number.
We'll do the rest
Requests are reviewed weekly by our Board of Directors. Following Board approval, your request will be submitted online to the National Credit Union Administration. In many cases, NCUA approval is received on the business day following the Board of Directors' decision. We will let you know as soon as you can announce to your employees that SLFCU is available to them.
Once your company has been approved, we will contact you to discuss the most appropriate methods of informing your employees about SLFCU membership benefits, such as:
- On-site enrollment and information sessions
- New hire packet information
- Payroll inserts announcing Credit Union benefits
- Presentation at staff meetings
- On-site, no cost financial seminars (Please let us know if specific topics are of particular interest to your employees.)
